  • Taking blood samples while dispensing containers for other samples and running simple laboratory tests, such as blood film for malaria parasites, typhoid test, urine and stool routine examination, blood electrophoresis, etc.
  • Preparing laboratory database and designing laboratory request and results forms to enhance productivity.
  • Running chemistry laboratory tests and performing routine maintenance on laboratory hardware such as printers, haematology analysers and autoclaves.
  • The daily maintenance of most of the laboratory hardware eradicated what was previously a frequent breakdown of the machines especially the haematology analysers and hence saving the hospital some monies.
  • Part of a work force (6 in the morning shift) that completed a daily intake of about 150 patients a day till the end of the year 2017.

  • Trained at the theatre to undertake simple pre-operative and post-operative procedures, work as a scrub nurse in a surgical team, and maintain the visual pulse-oximeter machine.
  • Submitted recommendations to the head of the laboratory for the need to acquire software that will gather and report results from haematology and chemical analyzers, electrophoresis machines, etc. This is to eliminate disjointed results in the lab, and hence increase productivity; this was adopted and has been executed.
