• Cases Handled:
• Hip Fracture, Fractures (Open and Closed fractures), Osteoarthritis, Appendectomy, Soft tissue injury, Foot pain and problems, Osteomyelitis, Osteoporosis, Cervical disc injury, Open reduction and internal fixation(ORIF), Plaster of Paris application, Dislocation of the various joint, Knee Aspiration
• Responsibities:
• Monitor vital signs, administer prescribed medications, including intravenous medications, and develop patient care plans in conjunction with the orthopedic surgeons and anesthesiologists
• Assist the orthopedic surgeon in the performance of orthopedic surgical procedures
• Provide support to patients waking up from anesthesia, including bandage maintenance, wound leakage, pain management, nausea treatment, and ensuring patients receive adequate rest, fluids and nutrients
• Observe patient's progress, record observations in patient medical records, and update attending physician directly when necessary
• Provide patient care, consistent with medical plan of care, for one to three patients
• Decontamination of used surgical instrument after aseptic procedures
• Receive and give verbal reports on each patient at start/end of each clinical experience
• Prepare patients for transport to other hospital departments for testing and also for discharge
• Prepare, distribute and administered medications prescribed by physicians
• Chart either handwritten or via data entered into computer
• Bath patients and change bed linen
• Dress and feed patients
• Care of surgical/orthopedic wounds
• Assist the orthopedic surgeons in the application of Plaster of Paris
• Educate and teach patient on the use of armpit crutches and other walking assistive device
• Educate patients on how to safely recuperate from surgery or injuries at home
• Get a patient on a pain management schedule and assist in administering pain medications and monitoring for reactions and allergies
• Provide individual patient education, in accordance with accepted nursing practice and medical plan of care
• Help patients improve strength and mobility following the correction of a musculoskeletal issue
• Assist the surgeon by maintaining a sterile surgical environment, preparing the patient in the correct position, handing the surgeon various surgical instruments and monitoring the patient's vital signs.

• Number of Beds: 500, Cases Handled:
• Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Asthma, Upper respiratory tract infection, Meningitis, Stomach Ulcer, Migraine, Stroke, Gastritis, Steven Johnson's syndrome, Bronchitis, Malaria, Urinary tract infection
• Responsibilities:
• Carry out a full range of registered nursing duties, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient's condition
• Maintain privacy and dignity of all patients whilst adhering to department policies
• Maintain a safe environment when caring for patients, including those patients requiring frequent levels of monitoring
• Monitor all patients' vital signs closely and treatment, maintaining high standards and quality at all times
• Carry out instructions from the nurse in charge and implementing treatments ordered by members of the multidisciplinary team
• Prioritize nursing care, recognizing deterioration in a patient's condition and informing team/clinician immediately
• Maintain accurate and legible written records of care
• Ensure effective communication with all levels of staff including the whole multidisciplinary team
• Adhere to the agreed procedures as identified, and promoting by example, a high standard of good quality nursing care in the department
• Participate in the health education and explanation of treatment to patients and relatives
• Manage patient emergencies promptly informing physicians of any vital changes in the status of patients and documenting information
• Coordinate successfully with the doctors and other professionals related to patient care
• Insert peripheral intravenous lines
• Administer medications per oral, sublingual, inhalation, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, intravenous and optic routes
• Perform catheterization (Foley catheter)
• Perform blood glucose testing
• Assisting with nasogastric tube insertions
• Perform oxygen supplementation
• Administer feeding per nasogastric tubes
• Implement discharge planning and instructions set by physicians and re-evaluating the patients' conditions
• Documentation of patient plan of care electronically, daily patient assessments and progress
• Educating patients and their families on disease processes, medical-surgical procedures and other aspects of therapeutic regimens, including medication and pain management techniques.

• Provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse
• Contribute to safe and efficient delivery of nursing care
• Assist with the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and make changes as necessary
• Assist the patient with feeding, drinking, ambulation, grooming, toileting, addressing specific technical skills
• Safely administration of medications(intravenous ,intramuscular, rectal, subcutaneous, topical and oral) and monitoring for side effect
• Assist with manual handling and transferring of patient in compliance with the hospital policy
• Collect, report and document data related to direct patient activities and ensure that documentation is accurate and up to date
• Maintain effective communication with colleagues, patients/clients and visitors
• Educate and orientate newly employed enrolled nurses in the ward in accordance to safety practices
