• Promote team morale in the ward/unit.
• Provide professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients.
• Prepare and administers (orally, subcutaneously, intramuscular and intravenous medications) and records prescribed medications. Report adverse reactions to medications with regards to policy for administration of medication by a licensed registered nurse.
• Educates patients on medical and surgical procedures.
• Record patients’ medical information and vital signs.
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays.
• Maintain confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and client facility staff.
• Deliver care with appropriate age and cultural competence to specific patient population according to individualized needs.
• Provides bed side care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre and post-surgery patients.
• Initiate patient education plan, as prescribed by physician, teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs.
• Change dressing, clean and dress wounds aseptically, inserts catheters and starts IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.
• Participates in discharge planning.
• Document accurately all care information given to patients in a timely manner and on the appropriate forms.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
