  • The study aimed to investigate the disinterest of Basic 4 learners in teaching and learning Information and Communication Technology (ICT) using qualitative research methods
  • The study was conducted in a school located at the Ga South Municipal Assembly in the greater Accra region of Ghana
  • The findings revealed that pupils’ disinterest in learning ICT were due to the perception of it being boring, difficult, and complex subject, which they struggled to comprehend
  • The study found that poor quality teaching, inadequate computers and instructional materials, and low motivation by the teacher also affected the pupils’ attitude towards learning and teaching of ICT
  • However, pupils’ showed interest in ICT learning when the teaching methods were hands-on and practical
  • The study recommends that the schools should be provided with more ICT resources and employ well trained ICT professional teachers.
