  • Responsible for security and safety of shipping within the Western Naval Command's Area of Responsibility with a breadth of 200 Nautical Miles (360 Km) seawards and a length of about 200 Nautical Miles (360 KM), from Winneba to Newtown on Ghana's maritime border with the Ivory Coast.
  • Ensured compliance with international, national and local laws by operators and vessels within the AOR.
  • Fostered cooperation among the units of the Ghana Navy, Ghana Army and the Ghana Air Force.
  • Worked closely with the Western Regional Security Council to ensure the security of the Western Region at all times.
  • Fostered culture of cooperation among the Ghana Navy, Marine Police, Ghana Maritime Authority, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Volta River Authority and all other state agencies, multinational companies and local companies that operate at sea.

  • Responsible for security and safety for Ghana's sea area with a breadth of 200 Nautical Miles(360 Km) from the coast to seaward and a length of about 150 Nautical Miles (240 Km) from Winneba to Aflao on Ghana's border with Togo.
  • Formulated anti-piracy policies and strategies in consultation with stakeholders such as the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Marine Police and the Ghana Navy Headquarters.
  • Deployed armed naval personnel on Tuna vessels to protect vessels from pirates as part of broader measures to fight piracy.
  • Reduced the incidence of successful piracy incidents by more than 90 percent.
  • Trained personnel of the Ghana Navy, Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development as well as managers of fishing vessels, captains and their crew in anti-piracy measures.
  • Ensured electronic monitoring of the command's area of responsibility at the operations rooms of the Eastern Naval Command and the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture development

  • Managed two fisheries enforcement teams comprising 30 men each drawn from the Ghana Navy, the Marine Police and the ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
  • Trained and mentored fisheries enforcement team members to ensure cohesion and efficiency.
  • Liaised with the Ghana Navy Headquarters, the Western and Eastern Commands and duty ship for fisheries protection patrols.

PROFILE OF COMMODORE EMMANUEL AYESU KWAFO (RTD)

  • Commodore EA Kwafo (Rtd) was enlisted into the Executive Branch of the Ghana Navy in 1987 as part of RCC 29. He attained the rank of Commodore in 2018 and retired in May 2025. He was born on 7 April 1965 to the late Samuel Ababio Kwafo of Aburi the late Beatrice Asamoah of Asamankese.
  • Commodore EA Kwafo has been a guest lecturer at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College since 2019. He has also a guest lecturer at the National Defence College to date.
  • Commodore EA Kwafo is married and has two children.
