  • Manage maintenance activities through the work order system using the SAP tool.
  • Prepare and manage plant equipment performance reports to give an informed decision and continuous improvement.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance shutdowns from two weeks to a year.

  • Prepare and manage quarterly and yearly shutdown schedules.
  • Partakes in daily operational excellence meetings to review KPIs and outline actions and priority deliverables for planning.

  • Present and partake in the weekly draft and final schedule meetings to discuss the weeks ahead maintenance schedules to rightly deliver on engineering set KPIs.

Details of duties and responsibilities

  • Management of works through work orders – I received approved notifications or work requests either from inspections or from OE meetings from front-line supervisors and converted these requests to work orders. These work orders are planned based on the AGA work management principle called BPF. The work orders planned are mostly on operational cost centre’s and CAPEX Projects.
  • Plant Equipment Performance reports – I prepare both the availabilities and utilisations for the production equipment through the downtime reports received from the shift reports.
  • Plan and Coordinate Maintenance shutdowns – I collate and put together all maintenance work that required shutdowns to be fixed and drawn and Microsoft project schedule for these works for execution. Also, all the needed plans for these works are put together and scheduled for the future with reference to the agreed shutdown dates within the year. This is achieved using SAP system tools and Excel templates that have been developed for monitoring measurements and clearances, run hours, component change-out programs, and downtime analysis sheets.
  • Weekly and Monthly Production Models – I prepare the models based on budget, forecast, and actual production availability figures which inform how much tonnage of feed is to be given to the crushers and the mills. This is done on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Quarterly and yearly shutdown schedules – Per the shutdown frequencies of both mills and crushing plants which are eight monthlies and two weeklies respectively, quarterly and yearly schedules and major project works are populated for these periods and any changes as and when there are modifications done to the plants or due to production requirements plans are amended from the original plan.
  • Partake in OE meetings – I attend daily OE meetings where the previous day’s safety issues, environmental issues, and KPIs are reviewed, and out of these actions are outlined and agreed on priorities deliverables for each discipline for the day and are reported on the next day.
  • Develop PMs Strategies – I received feedback from front-line supervisors on work orders issued out and out of these new PMs are derived from the base on the frequency of defect happenings on a component. Also, any new equipment purchased on the plant is set on PM strategies (Daily, Fortnightly, Monthly, etc.). Some PMs are also set based on OEM recommendations.

  • I report directly to the service integrity Superintendent under the Asset Management section
  • Also related to the mining and processing teams on the mine production model
  • In close contact with external labor contractors and OEMs in terms of shutdown management and other maintenance activities.
  • Work together with the asset integrity section (Reliability section) to monitor and keep plant equipment in healthy condition.
  • Work also with procurement and stores department on both urgent and planned works materials/ resources requirements to meet a scheduled maintenance date.
  • Relate with financial accountants on contract works completion for subsequent payments to contractors.
