  • Weekly sampling and analysis of raw and process water and communicating same to the Senior Metallurgist.
  • Parameters analyzed include pH, Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Total and Calcium Hardness, Total Alkalinity, Total Suspended Solids, Sulphates, Dissolved/Suspended silica and other parameter that may be deemed necessary to ensure availability of suitable process and raw water for process operation utilization
  • Dosing and monitoring of scale and corrosion control chemicals for elution circuit and evaluating performance of scale control chemical by observing temperatures and pressures as well as gold loadings on barren carbon.
  • Calibration of chemical dosing pumps, pH meters, TDS/Conductivity Meters, Tri-Meter (Total/Free Chlorine and Turbidity) and any other instruments that would be required for water treatment and management.
  • Providing advice on reducing elution down-times due or poor strip due to inefficient heat exchange as a result of tube blockage (scaling) and/or solution leakages.
  • Keeping accurate water chemistry data and communicate same with Process Operation Management.
  • Identifying and providing consultancy advice (value generation projects) aimed at improving delivery and management of water for specific process and site operation
  • Ensuring compliance with on-site Health Safety and Environment requirements for chemical transport, storage, usage and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
  • Daily Strip Water Treatment Plant operations and maintenance
  • Perform QA/QC on water treatment chemicals supplied to Newmont by AECI Water (IMPROCHEM) and ensure they are in compliance with site's requirement
  • Participating in weekly and monthly water management reagent and consumables inventory and ensuring compliance with Budget and Forecast requirements
  • Weekly and Monthly chemical usage reconciliation and inventory planning with Newmont's Supply Chain
  • Management of on-site AECI Water (IMPROCHEM) personnel on Newmont’s site.
  • Training and supervising operators on Potable Water Treatment Plant Operations as well as chemical safe handling, application and disposal.
  • Assist in developing Safe Work Procedures (SWP) and Task Based Risk Assessment (TBRA).
  • Conduct Planned Task Observation on AECI Water Technician.
  • Production of demineralized water as and when required.
  • On-site troubleshooting, technical problem solving and general maintenance of all AECI Water (IMPROCHEM) installations on Newmont’s Site.
