Summary

  • I was enlisted into the Ghana Police Service (GPS) as an Under Cadet with the rank of Chief Inspector in November 1989. I commenced my Under Cadet Training at the National Police Training School (NPTS) in Accra and subsequently undertook a practical attachment at the Regional Headquarters (RHQ) in Kumasi. Upon successfully completing my practical attachment, I proceeded to the Ghana Police Academy in Accra for the 28th Cadet Officers Course, after which I was commissioned into the Officer Corps of the GPS in 1990 with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
  • Throughout my career, I have demonstrated unwavering dedication, loyalty, and commitment to duty, steadily rising through the ranks to become Commissioner of Police (COP) on June 1, 2016. I am a principled, disciplined, and visionary leader with a strong track record of excellence in law enforcement. A firm believer in teamwork and integrity, I am widely recognized for my proactive approach to policing and unwavering commitment to justice, earning the respect of colleagues and instilling fear in those who threaten public safety.
  • I have served in various capacities and held key command positions within the Ghana Police Service, as well as on the international scene, consistently demonstrating excellence and exceeding expectations. As Regional Commander in the Ashanti, Western, and Greater Accra Regions, I implemented intelligence-led operations and strategic crime prevention initiatives, significantly reducing crime rates to its lowest in these regions.
  • In addition to my regional leadership roles, I served as a member of the Police Management Board (POMAB) and held the position of Director-General across multiple departments at the Police Headquarters, including Operations, Research, Planning and Transformation, and Legal and Prosecution, among others. My extensive experience and strategic leadership have been instrumental in driving innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and strengthening law enforcement capabilities at both national and international levels.
  • I performed very critical national assignments including extensive experience in Football Security/Administration in Ghana. I served as the Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Ethics Committee until 2015, when I was elevated to assume the chairmanship, a role I held until 2018. I was the Security Coordinator for the Ghana National Football Team, the Black Stars, during the 2006 World Cup in Germany. I served as the Vice Chairman of Security Committee of the 2008 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Final African Cup of Nations Tournament (CAN 2008). After 34 years of dedicated and exemplary service, I retired from the Ghana Police Service on April 5, 2023, with a distinguished and unblemished record, having made significant contributions to national security and law enforcement.
