Project Officer

Women’s Integrated Development Organization

  • Identified and trained 90 community-based volunteers (CBVs) as facilitators on Gender Equality and Village Savings and Loans Association (Plus) in the Bono East, Ahafo and Bono Regions
  • These CBVs cascaded trainings to 6,750 rural women on savings-related skills, on gender equality, sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), prevention of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and child, early and forced marriage (CEFM), financial literacy and basic business management
  • Facilitated the identification and setup of childcare centers in 38 project communities to serve as safe spaces for children to enable their mothers have active economic hours at their enterprises to improve their economic statuses
  • Facilitated in the identification and training of caregiver’s on safeguarding principles and proper setup 38 childcare centers, and periodically conducted refresher training for caregivers and negotiated their upkeep with community stakeholders and parents for children at the safe spaces
  • Mapped and gathered data on existing organizations working on women's rights in the Bono East, Bono and Ahafo regions and held engagements on collaborative advocacy actions to enhance women economic empowerment
  • This has provided an opportunity to build synergies with ongoing women economic empowerment interventions
  • Identified 54 existing women entrepreneurs who are serving as mentors for rural women entrepreneurs
  • These mentors are providing business guidance to rural women entrepreneurs to enable them start and grow their businesses in green value chain and green skills businesses
  • Identified 890 male champions within 90 communities to advocate for men support for women economic empowerment and safeguarding for children in their communities
  • This has helped to foster a supportive environment at both the family and community level toward rural women/children empowerment
  • Coordinated the development of a second-year project annual work plan for a Global Affairs Canada (GAC) sponsored value chain project (Women’s Innovations for Sustainable Enterprises-WISE) in close partnership with Plan International and project collaborators in the Tano North, Techiman and Sunyani Municipalities (MoFA, Business Advisory Centers and EPA)
  • Identified and oriented 179 Community and religious leaders on the need to support women’s economic participation in 90 rural communities
  • This has helped to promote positive gender norms, practices and behavior’s that empower rural girls and young women to play active role in the economy in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East
  • Coordinated the conduct of quarterly joint monitoring and learning visits involving project beneficiaries, Plan International, stakeholders from Municipal Assemblies, Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agencies under the GAC sponsored WISE project which created good platform for knowledge sharing and development of new strategies for the project
  • Facilitated the development of new business and value chains among VSLA participants resulting in good returns on their investment on soya, mushroom, beekeeping and snail rearing value chains in the Bono East, Bono and Ahafo Regions
  • Established partnership between rural banks and VSLAs in the Bono Regions resulting in the increased financial support to the tune of One Million Ghana Cedis for VSLA members to start and expand their businesses to the mutual benefit between the rural banks and VSLA participants
  • Facilitated agronomic, business and entrepreneurial training for 2,300 women soya production, snail rearing, mushroom production and beekeeping under GAC Funded project in the Bono regions
  • To increase women economic rights participation in decision making at household and community levels
  • Collaborated with monitoring teams and facilitated in mobilizing participants for baseline, midline and end line evaluation exercises in the Bono Regions
  • Promoted and facilitated the registration of 32 individual businesses business’s with the appropriate institution for formalization and recognitions in the various municipalities in the Bono Regions
  • Promoted alternative and new business streams for 1,210 VSLA participants through the establishment of income generating activities in green business training and establishment (bee keeping, mushroom, snail rearing and soya beans cultivation/ processing) in the Bono East, Bono and Ahafo Regions
  • Contributed in the writing of monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annual reports to Plan international, GAC, GIZ, FAO, USAID, Care International, STAR Ghana Foundation, BUSAC Fund on different projects
  • Assisted quality assurance team from Plan International Ghana/Global Affairs Canada conducts periodic verification/validations of reports and financial documentations to be in standard of donors specifications
