  • Managed and coordinated provision of world class integrated facilities operation and maintenance service at completed center.

Facilities Operation and Maintenance Manager

Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Nigeria Plc
Lagos
05.2006 - 03.2011
  • Managed contracting and implementation of the SHELL Head Office, Freeman House (FMH), Security Enhancement Works comprising installation of 3 units of access control facilities and 100nos, metallic 2-hr fire-rated doors to replace existing 30mins fire-rated wooden doors. Also managed contracting and remodeling of entire 2 wings of the 4th floor of the building as well as the 20th floor emergency escape provisions which included gantry walkway, 2nos single-entry escape chutes and platforms.
  • Supervised erection of exhaust masts for 3nos CAT Generators of 4,478KVA combined rating.
  • Reviewed sewage assessment reports on the Shell Lagos Head Office sewage treatment plant which evaluated environmental impact of the plant effluent discharge. Developed scope of studies and re-design for upgrading the 103cu.m/day plant and coordinated the studies and designs, as well as the contracting processes for the upgrade. The plant upgrade involved modifying existing conventional activated sludge treatment system to include, primarily, an Equalization Tank complete with screening baskets and macerators for handling non-degradable solids. The equalization tank was designed to take care of shock loads from the 21-floor building by receiving raw sewage from the building and pumping same into existing aeration tank in a controlled manner. Upgrade also included replacing existing 2nos air blowers of about 145cu.m/hr. each to blowers of 400cu.m/hr. each to ensure air supply to the aeration tank is sufficient for aerobic digestion, efficient air transfer and for the airlift recycle system. Also, the existing effluent tank was modified and baffled, into a chlorine contact section to provide a contact time of 0.5hrs and an effluent pumping tank; all aimed at enhancing final effluent quality.
  • Managed and supervised construction of the FMH sewage treatment plant upgrade works aimed at bringing the plant operations to regulatory compliance. Due to challenging brownfield nature of the works site; rehabilitation of plant while still operational, built-up area with limited space and high groundwater level, work method had to be extensively and continually reviewed and supervised. The work method included temporarily diverting/re-routing sewer lines from the building to the plant, identifying and relocating sub-surface service facilities (electric cables and water lines) and construction of the equalization tank by pre-casting segments of the tank walls on site and placing cured segments to designed levels through a process of sinking and dewatering.
  • Conducted air quality assessments of existing FMH sewage treatment plants as well as upgraded plant in accordance with World Health Organization Air Quality Guidelines (WHOAQG). Assessment showed significant improvements in air quality after plant upgrade.
  • Managed provision of facilities operation and maintenance of FMH 14cu.m/hour and t53 Bourdillon Road 10cu.m/hour water treatment plants and supporting 250m deep-water boreholes.
  • Coordinated contracting processes for and supervised rehabilitation works at the treatment plants and construction of back-up boreholes for the plants.

Construction Manager/Asst. Project Manager

NESTOIL Nigeria Limited
Warri
09.2000 - 06.2003
  • Reviewed and evaluated designs and provisions for the Egbeleku Landfill and Integrated Waste Management Facility Project in Warri. Coordinated and integrated the local and foreign components of the consequent re-engineering and redesigns of the Project undertaken by Canadian main consultants (EBA Engineering Consultants) and local sub-consultants
  • Identified shortcomings, during the design review, in the geotechnical and geophysical investigations of proposed site, resulting in doubts that original designs could be implemented and material requirement and source for project implementation was feasible. Project site open-up works based on original design also showed that topographic and hydrologic evaluation of the project site was insufficient for the works implementation. Coordinated site investigations for the required project re-engineering which resulted in change of landfill location and material sourcing through hydraulic sand-winning by inland (sub-surface borrow area) dredging.
  • Managed implementation of the 7.5 Km Adeja – Egbeleku access road, 4nos Landfill Cells’ 300,000cu.m hydraulic sand-filling, and 90cu.m/day sewage treatment plant components of the Project.

Civil/Design Engineer

DAMTECH Nigeria Limited
Jos
09.1997 - 01.2000
  • Conducted field condition assessments to determine civil rehabilitation works for the Shiroro Hydro-power dam and carried out designs of the works in collaboration with Huwecon Ltd. Project involved onsite condition inspection of dam and appurtenances, evaluation of required rehabilitation and design of rehabilitation works as well as providing a work execution program and a priced bill.
  • Undertook engineering studies and preliminary designs for the Gambaki Dam Project. Project conceptualized impounding of a surface water reservoir to recharge ground water basin which fed deep boreholes as source of water supply to nearby Azare Town, 50 km away, in Bauchi State. Conducted investigations of River Gambaki catchment area topography and hydrology as well as subsurface hydrogeology to identify suitable location for siting the dam across the river channel.
  • Undertook engineering studies and preliminary designs of the Bunga-Jamare Basin to the Komadugu-Gana Basin inter-basin water transfer project.
  • Performed Hydrological analyses of Donga River, as part of the Donga Bridge Project design, in collaboration with Parkman Consultants. The bridge project was designed to convey the Wukari – Rafin Kada - Donga – Mararaba road across the Donga River near Donga Town. The river has its source within northern slopes of the Cameroon mountains with its upper catchment lying within the Mambilla Plateau at the border of the two countries. The hydrological analysis was carried out to determine the optimal bridge underdeck elevation above the maximum flood level at the bridge site. The analysis incorporated plans for future development of Hydro-power dams at Gembu on the plateau and Manya, down the plateau escarpment, both upstream of Donga Town. Conducted site investigations of the river channel near Donga town to determine appropriate bridge crossing location, collected and collated historical rainfall and river flow data of the Donga and neighboring catchments and carried out statistical and correlation analysis to forecast peak river discharge and stage at Donga with and without upstream dam developments as integral part of the Analysis.

Project comprised design of a flood control detention dam across the River Kolin Shushashi, one of the headwaters of the Sabke River, and channel improvement works, to control and mitigate against downstream flooding of communal lands.
  • Coordinated engineering studies and undertook preliminary and final engineering designs of the Datsin Hausa Flood Control and Attenuation Dam Project. Project conceptualized provision of a detention dam at Datsin Hausa to attenuate and mitigate impact on downstream reaches of the River Benue of flood water resulting from emergency release, during peak flow periods, of impounded water in theLagdo Dam Reservoir on the upstream channel of the river in Northern Cameroun. The Project also incorporated provision of river training and bank flood control levees along some stretches of the river.
  • Coordinated engineering studies and undertook engineering designs of Katsina- Ala River Flood Control and Attenuation Dams Project.
